Are OIL SAFE Products suitable for use with Fuels and Solvents? |
|
|
OIL SAFE Products are not permitted for use with fuels or solvents as they are inconsistent
with design requirements specified by Authorities relating to Containers for Fuel.
Furthermore, the nitrile sealing components used in OIL SAFE products are not compatible
for use with fuels or solvents. DO NOT USE OIL SAFE PRODUCTS FOR THE HANDLING OF
FUELS OR SOLVENTS. |

Are Oil Safe Products suitable for use with Brake Fluid ? |
|
|
It is not recommended that OIL SAFE products be used with Brake Fluid as the nitrile
sealing components are not compatible with this fluid. Furthermore, certain jurisdictions
may require brake fluid containers to conform to specified design requirements to
which OIL SAFE products may not conform. DO NOT USE OIL SAFE PRODUCTS FOR THE HANDLING
OF BRAKE FLUID. |

Are Oil Safe Products suitable for use with high solvent content
synthetic oils ? |
|
|
Whilst the High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) polymers used in the manufacture of
OIL SAFE drums and Lids are very chemically resistant, some high-end specialty lubricating
oils may contain high levels of solvent that are detrimental to the nitrile sealing
members used in OIL SAFE products. In these circumstances, alternative sealing materials
(such as Viton)
should be pursued if they are compatible with high solvent content lubricating oils.
Viton O'Ring kits are available in the Spare Parts section under Oil Safe.
Fluid compatibility tables are available from o-ring manufacturers that provide
information on Nitrile O-ring fluid compatibility.

What is the Effective Service Life of Translucent Anti-static Additives? |
|
|
The OIL SAFE range of Lids and drums have translucent antistatic additives added
to the polymer mix during manufacture in an effort to minimize the possibility of
static electricity.
The antistatic additives are of a type that migrates to the
surface of the plastic over time. By absorbing moisture in the atmosphere, it forms
a conductive layer of film on the surface of the plastic, This layer reduces the
surface resistivity allowing any charge which may have built up to be dissipated
throughout the polymer surface. The length and level of any anti-static resistance
is dependent upon many factors some of which include; humidity level, additive concentration
level, compatibility with the polymer and service temperatures.
Due to these infinitely
varying factors in end service it is not possible to quantify the effective service
life of these additives. In the absence of any International Standards for Lubricant
Dispensers pertaining to static electricity, should your dispensing applications
involve extreme operating environments where static electricity in lubricant dispensers
may be a consideration, you are recommended to determine the applicability of any
public or private policy or procedural limitations prior to the adoption and use
of plastic lubricant dispensers on your site.
Each User should make their own tests
to determine the suitability of OIL SAFE products for their own particular applications.
Fluid Defense Systems offers no express or implied warranties concerning the
form, fit or function of any OIL SAFE product in any application.

How Compatible are Nitrile O-rings with fluids ? |
|
|
Nitrile is the most widely used O-ring material in industry due to its
economy and chemical resistance to a very diverse range of fluids.
Fluid compatibility tables are available from o-ring manufacturers that provide
information on Nitrile O-ring fluid compatibility.

How do I clean Oil Safe Products ?
|
|
|
Oil Safe products can be cleaned in warm water less than 50 Deg C, assisted by the
use of any environmentally friendly proprietary cleaning fluid or general domestic
detergent which is not solvent based. * Please Note: All products should be clean
and dry before the oil is added to the container. |
